ya'll ready for a photo overload?
we just returned from a little vacation to san antonio, texas.
so...i can say ya'll.

it was a business trip for me.
well, kinda.
i went because of work.
not so much for work.

at one point, i had to represent our agency.
walk across the stage
receive some sort of trophy
and smile for a photo with some corporate big wigs.
whoopty doo.
we stayed right on the riverwalk at the hyatt regency.
nice location.
nice hotel.

now, not to be a total downer...
i really wasn't all that impressed with the riverwalk.
perhaps my expectations were too high.
i mean, you can only walk around and look at restaurants for so long.
i need shopping.
and not those touristy junk stores.

it was hot.
really hot.
we played in a golf tournament on thursday.
65 guys.
3 ladies.
who wins the flag prize for longest drive?
this girl!
(i won a coffee mug. are you kidding me?!?!)

on thursday night, our group was bused to the don strange ranch
for a true, cowboy texas experience.
armadillo races
i did not touch those yucky things. eewww!!!
photos with (or of, in my case) longhorn bulls.
a mechanical bull.
hayrack rides.
hot air balloon.
roasting marshmallows.
and some dang good barbecue.
most of our time this trip was pre-scheduled.
but, we managed to see a little of the city.
...because i skipped out of an all day meeting.
and we extended our stay by one day.
the alamo was visible from our hotel window.
i'm not much of a history nut,
but it was neat.
for snapping photos, where allowed.
the city was full of these crazy, big trees.
so beautiful.
the last night, we accidentally stumbled into the restaurant texas de brazil.
loved the concept -- no menu. huge salad bar. get a piece of 14 different meats. large wine selection. great atmosphere.
chad tried 10 different cuts.
i only made it to 6.
and i did try lamb for the first time.
it's a bit gamey for me.
i'll probably pass next time.

in all, it was a nice trip.
hard to be away from the little guy that long!
thankful for the extra long weekend.
not thankful for the pile of work on my desk to greet me tuesday morning.

his dad said it was time for a big boy bed.

his mom said she's not ready.

i lose.
i'm not ready for this growing up stuff.

he's been a big "help" in the kitchen lately.
he likes to dump the ingredients in.
...and dump them out.
he likes to stir.
...and splash.
and lick.
(no double dipping, silly!)
we do all things in a manly fashion.
...with trucks.
dump trucks.
scoop trucks.

and add super secret ingredients:

and ya'll wondered why that challah bread tasted so good at easter.

where, oh where has the time gone?
here comes a completely random post.

looks like i left you hanging with crazy hair.
he did get a hair cut.
and he's cute.
but...i haven't taken a picture yet??
what the (blank) is wrong with me?
so, i guess i'll continue to leave you hanging.

since the last post...

i've been a single mom.
husby is out of town for a week.
he's finishing his brother's basement.
yes, i married a carpenter.
you should be jealous.
he can do cool things to my house.
labor is cheap.
for me.
not for you.
we have bills to pay, yo.

mr. cash has told everyone that his dad is "dolfing" (golfing)
"daddy wortin' dolf tubs. daddy hit it in da wader."
(daddy working. golf clubs. daddy hit it in the water.)
i love his new storytelling.
especially, since he points out that his dad hit his ball in the water.
his mommy didn't.

the cashman and i went shopping for mother's day in the big city.
best idea i've had all year.
and i shopped for myself.
new golf shoes. check.
new golf hat. check.
new maxi dress. check.
summer shorts. check.
cute fedora. check.
all for me.
because that's what mother's day is all about.

i also volunteer for the relay for life.
it's been no secret on my blog why cancer has such a special place in my heart.
cancer sucks.
i want it to go away.
i want to raise money money money for research.
i want every cancer patient to feel beautiful with no hair.
to feel strong for the hell they have been through.
i want every cancer patient to know that they are amazing.
that i care.
that i remember.
this week, our committee sponsored the survivor supper for these very reasons.

the very next evening i hosted a birthday party at my house for my brother-in-law's 30th birthday.
lasagna for a party of 10.
photo taken may 2010 (30 year old brother not pictured)
i love my in-laws.
not everyone can say that
and for that, i feel very blessed.
i mean, how could you not love that inappropriate polo'd man in the middle?!?!

the last two days we've had thunderstorms and tornados.
in the insurance business, this means craziness.
lots of hail insurance written.
thankfully, only a couple property claims.
photo taken with my iPhone.

this cloud produced a tornado.
(this photo was the calm after the storm)
i didn't get a picture because i was a scared chicken in the basement of our office.
a lot of the town was standing on main street.
with the tornado sirens sounding.

if that's not a look of desperation in his eyes,
i don't know what is.

don't worry, son.
haircut in less than 24 hours.

and you see those 2 blurry pictures on top.
i'm going to take care of that.
bought myself a mother's day gift.
great things are going to come.
great photo things.
i know it.
this will be the key to all photo perfection.
until then, deal with my blurry photos.
just deal with it.

i create.

he destroys.

i guess i better get used to it.
he's a boy, after all.
